Watch the February 27th Ribbon Cutting
February Update:
The campus for Her Place transitional home for women is speeding toward completion. Volunteers and tradespeople have been working constantly since we received our building permit in July. The rain has slowed us considerably over the winter, but many people have slogged through the mud to do their work. The house is essentially a new creation. We took out floors, walls, and ceilings; replaced plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems; installed fiberoptic cable for the phone and computer use; painted inside and out, added new siding, and demolished the concrete driveway in preparation for grading and new concrete.
Truck of Love has received $830,361 in donations and spent $644,663, leaving $185,698 in the bank to complete the house, yard, and office building. Looks like we have just enough to finish the work.
We hope to get our certificate of occupancy in March. It will take us a few weeks to move in furniture and put together all the tables, desks, and other items we have been holding. There will be a time to solicit and train volunteers and interview prospective residents. (Applications for both will be available soon.) Our hope is to be open in April.
